Kevin Burdette

Kevin Burdette performed with Gotham Chamber Opera last season as the Ogre in Montsalvatge's El gato con botas. His other performances in 2010–11 included Mr. Scattergood in The Last Savage with the Santa Fe Opera, Death and The Loudspeaker in Emperor of Atlantis with Boston Lyric Opera, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte with Phoenix Opera, and Nick Shadow in The Rake's Progress with The Princeton Festival. Career highlights for Mr. Burdette include Leporello in Don Giovanni and Papageno in Die Zauberflöte with New York City Opera; Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Colline in La Bohème with Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires); Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte with Boston Baroque, Mustafà in L'Italiana in Algeri with Seattle Opera; Claudius in Agrippina with L'Opéra de Montréal; Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream with Chicago Opera Theater; and Messiah with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, in addition to roles in Elektra and The Nose at the Metropolitan Opera. With Gotham Chamber Opera, he has appeared as Minos in the American premiere of Handel's Arianna in Creta and the Priest in the American premiere of Sutermeister’s Die schwarze Spinne.

An alumnus of the Juilliard Opera Theater and the University of Tennessee, Mr. Burdette is a former member of the Opéra National de Paris Young Artists' Program and San Francisco's Merola Opera Program. He is also the recipient of the Richard F. Gold Career Grant Award from the Shoshana Foundation and the 2006 Dr. Marcia Robbins-Wilf Award for Outstanding Dramatic Ability by the New York City Opera.
